Raven

Over the last weeks I have been feeling a calling to Wicca/witchcraft/more involved Paganism. Yesterday, it really convinced me after a series of bad events. Today I drew a new animal totem from my deck, an old friend Raven.

Now, I've worked with Crow as long as I can remember being involved in 'the craft', but I have never really worked with Raven as a totem. He has shown himself in my dreams and spreads before now, though. I know some people associate Raven and Crow as one, but to me, they have different energies.

I know Raven is considered to be the creator of all in a lot of legends, and so I associate him with the 'dark', magic, creative side of my being. He is more associated with the astral and metaphysical than the mundane. I hope to use his energies as much as possible over the next few months. I have a feeling I will be working him till the end of the (pagan) year.

Totems always seem to show up when I need them. I just decided yesterday to start performing magic and rituals again, and Raven comes along. Thank you, Spirit. It makes me feel really good that someone is always there, ready to help.

From here.

Magic, Healing, Creation

If a raven totem has come into our life,
magic is at play.
Raven activates the energy of magic
and links it to our will and intention.

With this totem, we can make great changes
in our life;
the ability to take the unformed thought
and make it reality.

The raven shows us how to go into the dark
of our inner self and bring out the light of our true self;
resolving inner conflicts which have long been buried.
This is the deepest power of healing we can possess.
